Beliefs

What we believe about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

Holy Scriptures: We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God: true, immutable, steadfast, and unchangeable. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Eternal Godhead: We believe God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three are co-existent, co-eternal, and equal in divine perfection. 1 John 5:7

Fall of Man: We believe that man—created in the image of God—fell into sin by voluntary disobedience, losing intended meaning and purpose. Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12

Plan of Redemption: We believe that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us and took our place. His blood purchased the pardon for all who believe in Him. John 3:16; Titus 2:14

Salvation through Grace: We believe salvation is received wholly through grace—no human righteousness or merit can contribute to our receiving God’s love and favor. We must whole- heartedly repent and accept Christ, through whom we are justified before God. Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:6-10; 1 John 1:9

New Birth: We believe transformation takes place in people at conversion. We receive His Spirit and have new desires, interests, and pursuits in life. 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20

Water Baptism & Communion: We believe being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is an essential response to Jesus’ command and testifies to His lordship as Christ and King. We believe in observing communion with joy and celebration in fellowship to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:24-26; Romans 6:4

Baptism in the Holy Spirit: We believe baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers believers to exalt Jesus, to live lives of holiness, and to be witnesses of God’s saving grace. We expect the filling of the Holy Spirit to occur in the same manner as during Pentecost and the early church. Acts 1:5; 2:4

The Spirit Filled Life: We believe it is the will of God for believers to walk in the Spirit moment by moment, serving the Lord and living lives of patience, love, truth, sincerity, and prayer. Ephesians 4:30-32; Galatians 5:16, 25

The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit bestows and empowers ministry gifts upon believers that are active today, and these gifts build up the Body of Christ. As evidence of a Spirit-filled life, believers should show spiritual “fruit”. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22-25

Moderation: We believe moderation should be obvious to others, and relationship with Jesus should never lead people into extreme fanaticism. Christian lives should model that of Christ in uprightness, balance, humility, and self-sacrifice. Colossians 3:12-13; Philippians 4:5

Divine Healing: We believe divine healing is the power of Jesus Christ responding to the prayer of faith. Jesus, who does not change, is still willing and able to heal the body, as well as the soul and the spirit in answer to faith. Mark 16:17-18; James 5:14-16

The Second Coming of Christ: We believe the Second Coming of Christ is personal and imminent. The certainty of His coming and the fact that no man knows the hour of His coming prompt our evangelistic efforts. The Lord himself will descend from heaven, the dead in Christ shall rise, and the redeemed will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Matthew 24:36, 42,44; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Church Relationship: We believe in the importance of identifying with a congregation of believers with whom we can worship God, observe the ordinances of Christ, exhort and support one another, labor for salvation of others, and work together to advance the Lord’s Kingdom. Acts 16:5; Hebrews 10:24

Civil Government: We believe civil government is by divine appointment and that civil laws should be upheld at all times, except in things opposed to the will of God. Acts 4: 18-20; Romans 13:1-5

Judgment: We believe all shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ— the redeemed to be delivered unto everlasting life, and the unrepentant unto everlasting punishment. Revelation 20:11-12; 2 Corinthians 5:10

Heaven: We believe heaven is the glorious habitation of the living God and the eternal home of born-again believers. John 14:2; Revelation 7:15-17

Hell: We believe hell is a literal place of darkness, deepest sorrow, and unquenchable fire; which was not prepared for man but for the devil and his angels, yet it will become the place of eternal separation from God for all who reject Christ as Savior. Matthew 14:41-42; Revelation 10:10

Evangelism: We believe soul-winning is a high priority in the Kingdom of God, and worldwide evangelism is our goal. James 5:20; Mark 16:15

Tithing and Offerings: We believe tithes and offerings are ordained of God and sustain His ministry, spread the Gospel, and release personal blessing. Malachi 3:10; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

CULTURAL BELIEFS

CULTURE: An expression of your belief system. It is what you practice as truth, not just what you believe as truth. James 1:21-25

1. GOD’S GOODNESS: We believe Father God’s mood towards us is always good. He is in a good mood; we never approach Him on a bad day. Psalm 100:4-5

2. IDENTITY: We believe we are His sons and daughters - not orphans. We believe we are no longer sinners after salvation - we become Saints and are part of a family. Romans 8:14-17; 2 Corinthians 5:17

3. RELATIONSHIPS: We believe right relationships are the highest priority of heaven. God first and then others. We practice honor, love, and transparency - preferring one another above ourselves. We celebrate progress, not performance. It is safe to be real as we heal, and we honor one another in our healing process. Romans 12:10; Matthew 18:15-19; Matthew 5:23-24

4. PRESENCE FOCUSED: We desire His presence in all we do and say. Our corporate gatherings are about Him. When we gather together for worship we are all participants and not just spectators. We respond to Him from a heart of gratitude and love. Psalm 16:11; 2 Chronicles 5:14

 5. KINGDOM AUTHORITY: We partner with the Holy Spirit in helping to establish the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth now. We believe that Jesus rules and reigns, and that all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him and released to us. We have been commissioned to operate under this same authority in order to usher in His Kingdom power. We believe that we represent Jesus here on earth, and we are to do what He did. We expect signs, wonders, and miracles to accompany the gospel. How we believe is as important as what we believe. Mark 16:15-18; 1 John 4:17; Matthew 10:7-8; Matthew 6:8-10

 6. GENEROSITY: We believe that all the resources of heaven are available to us now because we are heirs; sons and daughters. God gave us all, holding nothing back. We believe that the giving of our resources is an issue of the heart and a part of our ongoing worship. Our giving involves risk and faith. It may not always be comfortable or makes sense. We give as Holy Spirit leads and not out of manipulation, guilt, or fear. We give hilariously and generously, holding nothing back. We cheerfully give to the local church, one another, the city, the region, and beyond. We believe our giving opens the door for others to receive the heart of the Father towards them. 2 Corinthians 9:7; Luke 6:38; Proverbs 21:26; Proverbs 3:27; Proverbs 28:27; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; John 3:16; James 2:15-16

7. SPIRITUAL MATURITY: We believe spiritual maturity is measured in how we love and not just in what we know. We are called to fulfill the great commission by bringing the good news of Heaven to the hearts of the people. We have all been given gifts, and each of us is called to be equipped and released to use our gifts for the purpose of populating the Kingdom of Heaven, as well as establishing His government here on earth. We are Kingdom focused, not just focused on the local church. Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:27-28
